We are a friendly community cycling club primarily centered on social club runs from our two home bases of Hargroves Cycles shops in Totton and Fareham. We started in 2012 and currently have around 40 members with the majority from the area around Totton.
Member benefits include;
  • Friendly accessible groups to ride and participate with (normally cake involved somewhere)
  • Access to racing through national body affiliation
  • Excellent quality club kit at competitive prices
  • Discount at Hargroves Cycles shops
The primary club activity of members is participating in our regular club rides on Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings from Totton, and Sunday mornings from Fareham. We describe these rides as “sporting” to indicate that these are a combination of training, fitness and fun, and they give members a friendly and safe environment to ride in groups. We also run a less demanding social ride on the first Saturday of each month as an introduction to club rides.
More details on our club rides can be found on the club rides page, and videos of some of our activities can be found on the club videos page
We have one primary rule for club runs – NO ONE GETS LEFT BEHIND - many have had the unfortunate experience of joining a cycling club for a club run only to find that the speed was too high, no one waits, and you end up on your own in the middle of the countryside which can be disconcerting particularly if you're new to an area.    Our primary rule means this doesn't happen on our club rides.
Other club events that we organise include coaching sessions at the local indoor velodrome at Calshot activity centre, which is affectionately known as “The Freezer”, and club sessions using the Wattbike studio at Applemore college.
For the competitively minded the club is affiliated to British Cycling (BC)  which enable members to compete in any cycle racing held under BC regulations this includes road racing, cyclo-cross, MTB races. The majority of members are active in the sportive scene and cyclo-cross, with a little local time trialing (non open TT events known as "club" time trials).
A number of members are ex-racers and there is a wealth of experience that can be tapped into by anyone wanting to get into the racing side of the sport. We also have access to qualified BC coaches who can provide advice on an informal basis.
Our club is the newest addition to the Hargroves family, and is run independently from the Hargroves retail business, and the very successful cyclo-cross race team, Hargroves Cycles RT which includes the holder of the senior National Champion jersey, Ian Field.
We’d love to welcome you as a member so why not come along on a couple of club rides and see if we’re for you.
